The holidays are officially here!
With Thanksgiving just passing, our other favorite wintery holidays are just around the corner!
So with that being said, the Crimson Ladies will fill you in on their favorite holiday looks.

Jen's Pick:
Loving all things that shimmer and sparkle,
her favorite look for the holidays are a glittery eye and some sort of sleek hair 'do.
Why say a word? Her fun yet sultry looks do all the talking!

Andrea's Pick:
She's sassy and fun and her style definitely reflects just that!
Liquid eye liner and a graduated bob are a perfect match to her personality.
You don't have a graduated bob? No worries! Faux bob it is!

 Laura's Pick:
Edgy and feminine fits Laura to a perfect "T."
She's loving the girly headbands that are embellished with jewels and bows,
not to mention, pairing them with a deep berry lip.
It may be an unexpected duo, but a beautiful one nonetheless.

Danielle's Pick:
Independent and passionate,
Danielle takes the world by storm and the holidays are not an exception!
Loving anything and everything with an impact,
her top picks are a strong fringe and a bold lip.

Francesca's Pick:
Lace and leather, it doesn't get much better!

   Crimson hearts Community

Here at Crimson Hair Studio, we love Philadelphia, the people of our community, and when opportunities arise in which we are able to give back.  We wanted to take a moment to mention some of the great Organizations we have had the pleasure of working with over the past few months as well as some of the great Organizations our clients have founded or are involved with.

Style Me Hired - "Style Me Hired gives free makeovers to men and women who are temporarily out of the workforce and are seeking employment. Over the past 2 years Style Me Hired has given hundreds of free makeovers to the unemployed to give them hope and restore their confidence as they seek employment. Through the years we have collected many inspirational stories of success, hope, restoration, healing, and happiness. It’s these amazing stories that continue to inspire us to Change Lives one Makeover at a Time."

The Crimson crew donated their time and skills last month, providing updated looks and styles for women hand-selected to participate in the Style Me Hired Program.  It was inspiring to see how a little kindness and a fresh look were able to provide these brave women with great confidence.  We wish them the best of luck as they re-enter the work force and set out on their career paths!! http://www.stylemehired.com/

Locks of Love - As we mentioned in our last blog post, a client was in recently to donate 10 inches of her beautiful blonde hair to Locks of Love.  "Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under the age of 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.  They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics."

Locks of Love accepts donation throughout the year and are an excellent organization.  Hair needs to be 10 inches long and we will gladly do the cut here at Crimson and help you get it sent to the proper place! in. http://www.locksoflove.org/

Clothes-Pin - Founded and run by a long time client of the Hair Studio's, Clothes-pin is a Center City Philadelphia non-profit organization that collects and distributes clothing to those in need.  "Via major sporting venues, volunteers collect, sort and distribute articles of clothing and sneakers to men's, women's and family shelters, local to each event.  Since witnessing the discarding of clothing at a major marathon in 2007, Clothes-Pin has collected and donated in excess of 65,000 articles.  Efforts are made possible by the generosity of the running community, partnering organizations, dedicated staff and our amazing volunteers, comprised of corporate groups, high school students, collegiate sports teams, friends, family and neighbors."

Crimson Hair Studio is proud to be a sponsor of this great organization.  To learn more and find out how you can help please visit: http://www.clothes-pin.org/

Crimson Hair Studio prides itself on giving back  to a Community that has welcomed us with open arms.  In addition to the aforementioned Organizations, we have donated services to and helped sponsor events held by local schools and foundations near and dear to our hearts and also to the hearts of our clients.  We welcome possible future opportunities and thank all who we have worked with in the past!!

post-cut - Ellen's hair and cute new 'Do!

      Locks Of Love!

This week we had the pleasure of helping Ellen, a very kind 12 year old girl,  participate in the Locks of Love program.  Locks of Love is an organization that transforms donated human hair into hairpieces for disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.  What a great cause to be part of!  Ellen grew her hair to the required length of 10 inches and came to us to cut it for donation and in exchange we provided her a great new style.  Check out the link below to find out more about Locks of Love and make an appointment anytime at Crimson to participate!!

15 Minutes with Meghan featuring Laura

Urban Dictionary defines a "Jersey Girl" as a girl with
"a love of an unpretentious good time, and a certain sense of style.
Jersey girls are about attitude.
They're about eating pizza, drinking beer, having great hair - and enjoying it all..
She's got a mouth on her.
She says what she means.
And she's got a nice, cheerful laugh..
Bottom line, all of them are sexy as hell."
Although this definition is great one,
Laura doesn't let anyone or anything define who she is.
Born a Jersey girl living in Philly, she's got a mixture of sweet and sass.
Here's an insider's look to get to know her.

M: It's your turn now!
L: "Good 'cause I'm ready for ya!"

M: When did you know you wanted to be a stylist?
L: "Well I want to say it was about 7 years ago. December 2005? I was just ready for a career change at that time in my life."

M: What inspires you?
L: "Honestly?...beautiful people. I know that might sound weird but they do. They inspire me all the time."

M: Who is your biggest role model?
L: "I absolutely love the Olsen sisters! And Gwen Stefani! They're all amazing."

M: Favorite time period?
L: "I love the 50's! I love the fashion and the hair. Oh, I also adore the 20's. Everything is just glamourous. I love, love, love the hair! The short, finger waves. I just adore the short, classy flapper girl style. And the music. Everything!"

M: Favorite fashion trend?
L: "Anything bohemian. I really like the gypsy, tribal style. The hair, jewlery, and clothes. It's just effortless."

M: Least favorite fashion trend?
L: "Ripped up stockings! Ugh! It just isn't flattering. Anything Ke$ha or Miley Cyrus inspired. It just isn't my thing."

M: Favorite hair trend?
L: "I'm in love with beach hair; the waves. It goes with the whole bohemian thing."

M: Least favorite hair trend?
L: "Probably reverse ombre. I'm just not really feeling it."

M: Favorite Bumble and Bumble product?
L: "Ooohh this is a tough one!...I'd probably have to say grooming cream and surf spray! You can use them seperate or cocktail them together. I just really like them!"

M: What are 3 words you would use to describe yourself?
L: "Aw man, really Meg?" (laughs...)
M: Oh come on (laughs)
L: "Oh God, okay. I'd have to say honest and positive...and adventorous? I mean, I try to be! (laughs..)
M: (laughs) That's all that matters!

15 Minutes with Meghan featuring Danielle

Get To Know...

With a strong sense of family and self,
there isn't anything she can't accomplish when her mind is set.
Her talents for anything related to hair far exceeded any of her initial expectations
when she first started learning the trade.
A native of Philadelphia,
Danielle is both book smart and street smart with her larger then life personality and curls.
Yet behind the lavish locks,
the stylist of more then 10 years opens up and peels back another layer.

Meg: Hello featured stylist!
Danielle: "Oh God, hello!"...(laughs)
M: You ready?
D: "So ready!"

M: When did you know you wanted to be a stylist?
D: "When I was seventeen years old I wanted to give it a try. Why did I want to stay a stylist is the real question! Who knows why you want to do anything when your seventeen?"

M: What inspires you?
D: "Life in general. Everything. I think that's what keeps you going! Change keeps me motivated."

M: Who is your biggest role model?
D: "In life, my parents. They never steered me wrong."

M: Favorite time period?
D: "I'd have to say the 70's. The platforms, fringe, I just love everything about it!"

M: Favorite fashion trend?
D: "I absolutely love cowboy boots! And liquid eyeliner!"

M: Least favorite fashion trend?
D: "There's so many...(laughs) But in all honesty I hate when the look doesn't fit the person. Trying to be somebody you're not is just irritating."

M: Favorite hair trend?
D: "Fringe of any kind! I save it last, just like dessert!"

M: Least favorite hair trend?
D: "Highlights to camouflage greys...makes no sense. Oh and shoulder length too! It's all or nothing!"

M: Favorite Bumble and Bumble product?
D: "Does It All! Hands down the best hairspray ever created!"

M: What are 3 words you would use to describe yourself?
D: "This is so hard to think of these things but if I had to say anything, I think  I'm pretty compassionate, a little mischievous (giggles) and passionate!

Behind The Scenes...

Some people only dream about being a model.
Striking a pose in front of a fantastic photographer.
Only hoping to live up to the careers of Iman, Gisele and David Beckham...
Well this was the chance to do it! The Crimson squad was able to have their dreams of modeling become a reality when we scheduled a photo shoot at Franklin Square Park in Philadelphia. We were each responsible for up to two models. Styling, make up, and hair were all apart of the responsibilities to get their models ready, including themselves. We had a rare chance to see what it was like behind and in front of the camera lens. It was a dream come to true for us and I can genuinely say that. It's not every day when you can. STRIKE a pose...and be a cover girl ;)

You Think You Know But You Have No Idea

Being the owner of the fabulous Crimson Hair Studio, she is one busy lady, let me tell you!

They may know her because of her endless talents. They may know her because of her positive and outgoing personality.
But do you really know her? Here is an inside look to getting to know the real Jen.

Meg: When did you know you wanted to be a stylist?

M: What inspires you?
J: "Music and fashion."

M: Who is your biggest role model?

M: Favorite fashion trend?
J: "Anything asymmetrical."

Feather Light Summer Make-Up!

We are all well aware that summer is here and mother nature isn't letting up quite yet. However, just because it's a little on the hot and humid side doesn't mean you can't wear make-up and continue to look fresh but have it feel light. Here are a couple ideas for you to use if you're willing to switch up your normal make up route for a quick short cut!

1st - You may want to consider trading your usual liquid or powder foundation for something light! We are fans of tinted moisturizer and bb cream! It'll feel as light as a feather.

2nd - A favorite amongst the Crimson Ladies is bronzer! Be easy on the applications ladies! It is very easy to go overboard with this so please use a light hand. As far as applying, think about the places that the sun hits naturally. Dust some on your checks, forehead, nose and a little on your chin. Think natural.

3rd - Next comes blush! A wash of a peachy-coral will lighten up your appearance and give you a glow from within. Usually, we'd recommend a cream but that doesn't always fit everyone's skin types. So here are our picks for those from dry to oily skin concerns.

4th - Now when it comes to the eyes, you can either leave the lid bare or feel free to use your bronzer or blush for an eye shadow; the gold in the bronzer has the ability to awaken the tired eye! It'll look absolutely beautiful and fresh. Now for eyeliner...we have mixed views. Some of the ladies like eyeliner and are faithful to wearing it while others can do without. We like this eyeliner for the top lid. It'll make your top lash line seem fuller and it can also hide any mistakes one may make when applying the mascara!

5th - Last but not lips ;) Some may be a fan of gloss or lipstick but during the summer, low maintenance is a must! That's why we are fans of a lip stain! Just a note - make sure you exfoliate your lips a head of time so get rid of anything chapped and just remember a little goes a long way. It also dries fast so work quickly! For those who like shiny lips, you can always dab some clear gloss on top!

We hope you enjoy these little make up tips from our beauty closet to yours :)
